Determined to pursue her newfound calling, Nikhila enrolled in winemaking studies at UC Davis, one of the world’s most respected viticulture programs. But she didn’t stop there—she went on to train at Cakebread Cellars, a prestigious Napa Valley winery known for its meticulous craftsmanship and world-class wines.
At Cakebread, she learned the art of blending traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology—a balance that would later become a hallmark of her own approach at Kalasi Cellars.
Founding Kalasi Cellars
Nikhila and her husband, Greg Davis, moved to Fredericksburg, Texas with a bold dream: to bring a fresh, globally inspired perspective to the Texas wine industry. In 2017, that dream became reality with Kalasi Cellars’ first vintage.
Today, Nikhila leads the winemaking operations with a hands-on approach, overseeing everything from grape to glass. Her vision? To create bold, expressive wines that reflect both the terroir of Texas and the unique stories behind each bottle.
